Bandai Announces Layoffs

Bandai Entertainment President Ken Iyadomi has confirmed that the American anime distribution company is planning to layoff an undetermined number of its 19 full-time employees in response to, “The downturn in the DVD market sell through.” The employees to be laid off will be retained as contracted consultants for the duration of their current development and production projects to ensure that Bandai’s product release schedule is not altered. Iyadomi has confirmed that Bandai Entertainment will continue to license and release “strong titles,” however, there “could be fewer titles” released in the future than the company has previously released.
