Battlefield Stadium Movie Opens

The live action film adaptation of Man*Gatarou’s Jigoku Koushien manga, titled “Battlefield Stadium” in English, has just opened in Japanese theaters. The film is Japan’s baseball/horror/action take on the immensely popular Chinese film Shaolin Soccer (itself heavily inspired by the Japanese Captain Tsubasa manga and anime). Battlefield Stadium stars Tak Sakaguchi (Prisoner KSC2-303 in Versus) and is directed by Yudai Yamaguchi, the assistant director on Ryuhei Kitamura’s Versus and Alive. Ryuhei Kitamura served as the film’s producer. The film’s QuickTime trailer is available through this link.
