So she’s going by Gianna now? We’re they worried the surname would scare off people who don’t watch movies with subs? Or is it because of Dragon Wars being a bomb? Anyway, it’s nice to know her rom-com got acknowledged, even though the only version available of it in the States is currently that Euro-hack guy’s remake. Also, I’m confused. I thought they changed the setting from Vietnam to WW2? Anyway, summer probably means August or September.
Uhm, the time setting hasn’t been changed. The official press announcement does state, “working undercover… on a mission in the Vietnam War era.”
Probably no surprise that Jun Ji Hyun is now going by the Western name “Gianna.” Jaa Panom Yeerum likewise now goes by the Western name “Tony Jaa.” Regrettably, if you’re an Asian actor trying to make it in the west, you’ve practically got to adopt a name that Westerners can easily pronounce.
I’d like to think this has more to do with cultural predispositions than the failure of D-War in America, sad to say. If there’s any justice in the universe, Dragon Wars failed in America because it was a simply awful picture.
What I meant was that I was told the setting was going to be changed to WWII. And I understand the Gianna part, but what I meant was that they didn’t even include the “Jun” surname.
