Boston MFA Japanese Art Exhibit

The Boston Museum of Fine Arts will be running an exhibit entitled “Takashi Murakami: Mad in Japan” through September 3rd. Murakami’s pop-art work features his original character Mr. DOB, initially inspired by anime and manga. The psychedelic works address Japanese concepts of “kawaii” (cute) and otaku (aficionado). Coincidentally, the Museum of Fine Arts is also currently exhibiting color prints from Japan’s Meiji era.
