Capcom Vs SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Preview

The Magic Box has put together a great preview of what is probably going to be a very talked about game, Capcom VS SNK. Capcom will release the highly anticipated fighting game Capcom vs SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 in arcades this August. Co-developed by Capcom and SNK, the Capcom character designs have been revised by the SNK artists, while the SNK characters have redesigned by Capcom staff. There will be a total of 28 playable characters, including recently revealed additions Ryo Sakazaki (Art of Fighting and King of Fighters), and Sakura Kasugano (The Street Fighter Alpha series, Rival Schools, Puzzle Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom 2). All of the characters are being redrawn to include new animation in their moves and poses.

In the game you can select to play in either Capcom Groove or SNK Groove. In Capcom Groove you get a Super Combo Gauge which can store up to 3 levels, similar to the SF Zero series. In SNK Groove, you can perform super combos as soon as you have stocks in the combo gauge and perform desperation attacks when the life meter flashes red, similar to the King of Fighters series. The Variable Character System is a brand new system in the game allowing you to choose a team of 2 up to 4 characters. The fewer characters you choose, the higher the strength and power each character has, while the more characters you select, the weaker their individual power and strength are, but then you have the advantage of having more characters to play with. Because of this new system, there will be uneven battles like 2 vs 3, or 2 vs 4 during the game.

The Dreamcast port of Capcom VS SNK is scheduled for release in Japan on September 8, for 6800 yen. One final note, the Japanese Naomi and DC version of the game will support Capcom’s Online Matching service, allowing you to battle against other players over the internet.
