Comic Con News Clarifications
|Peter Svensson, the writer that originally wrote the highly quoted San Diego Comic Con report that got posted to the Rec.Arts.Anime.Misc. news group, has provided us with some clarifications.
The six issues of translated Slayers manga published by CPM Comics and reprinted in the Slayers: Medieval Mayhem graphic novel will be the only Slayers manga translated by CPM.
We stated that presumably Saber Marionette J to X would have a Spanish language on its DVD release. The reference to “Saber Marionettes DVD” was actually referring to the upcoming Saber Marionette J TV series DVD release next year, which will have Japanese, English and Spanish audio tracks.
In regard to the rumor that Media Blasters would be releasing only select episodes of the Rurouni Kenshin TV series, Peter Svensson said, “Media Blasters right now, from what I was told at their booth, has only the rights to the first sixty-something episodes [presumably through the end of the Shishi-o saga], and said that after that, the episode quality decreased so they didn’t pick it up.” Anime on DVD has reported that, “We received a follow-up very quickly from Media Blasters regarding the Kenshin episode issue that was reported in rec.arts.anime.misc from the San Diego Comic Con. We’ve been told that this is dead wrong, and no episodes are being cut at all.” AnimeNation has not received word from Media Blasters regarding this matter, so we can’t corroborate either report.
According to Urban Vision, the new Vampire Hunter D movie will have a simultaneous Japanese and American release either this fall or in early 2001.
Apparently Viz has the US license to both the Ayashi no Ceres manga and TV animation series.
There will be 3 tapes of Fushigi Yuugi OVAs, which will have all of the first OVA series on the first tape, and the second OVA series on the second and the third tapes.
Poor sales of the Pretty Sammy OAV series in retail outlets led retailers to be uninterested in the title “Pretty Sammy.” This is the reason behind the Pretty Sammy TV series being re-titled Magical Project S for its US release. There’s been no word yet on what the DVD version of Pretty Sammy will be called for its US release.
