CW Considering Battle Royale TV Series

The Los Angeles Times newspaper reports that the CW network is in preliminary negotiations to acquire the rights to produce an American live-action TV series inspired by Koushun Takami’s 1999 novel Battle Royale. Producer Roy Lee has expressed the opinion that the success of Suzanne Collins’s subsequent Hunger Games franchise has crushed the viability of an American Battle Royale movie. But the Los Angeles Times opins that a TV series, “could offer a new opportunity, picking up on the theme but in a different way.”
