Dark Horse to Distribute Kozure Ookami Figures

Dark Horse Comics, who currently publish the English language version of the Lone Wolf & Cub manga, have acquired the exclusive North American distribution rights to the 1/6th scale Lone Wolf & Cub and Yagyu Retsudo figures produced for the Japanese market by Alfrex.

The Itto Ogami figure, based on the appearance of Tomisaburo Wakayama in the Toho “Baby Cart film series,” stands 12 inches tall and includes a working baby cart complete with hidden weapons and his son Daigoro, cloth banner with calligraphy, costume accessories (sandals, hat, cloth costume, etc.), and all the swords and other samurai weapons seen in the manga story. Retsudo is similarly detailed, in both articulation and handcrafted fabric costume with cane, sandals, and detailed weaponry.

So far only 500 figures total have been produced for world distribution. Dark Horse has been allotted only 200 figures for initial shipping in October. As a special American exclusive, each figure in the initial Dark Horse shipment will include a very limited, previously unavailable hardcover, foil-stamped edition of Lone Wolf & Cub #1 featuring a bookplate personally autographed by creator Kazuo Koike.

Highly prized by figure and toy collectors, Alfrex samurai figures have been known to sell for as much as $400 each. The Lone Wolf figure currently retails in Japan at 23,000 yen, roughly $185. The price of the American release figures has not yet been revealed.
