Denno Coil Honored Again

Reconfirming its status as one of anime’s finest productions ever, the 2007 Denno Coil television series has won this year’s 29th annual Nihon SF Taisho Award, a recognition awarded by the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of Japan organization. The Nihon SF Taisho Award is the Japanese equivalent to the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America’s Nebula Award.

Last August, Denno Coil won a Seiun Award from the 46th Japan Science Fiction Convention, roughly the equivalent of a Hugo Award. Denno Coil has also won an individual award from last September’s 13th annual Animation Kobe Awards, an “Excellence Prize” in the 2007 Japan Media Arts Festival Awards, and recognition as best television series (in a tie with Gurren Lagann) in the 7th annual Tokyo Anime Awards.
