Detail on American Dragon Quest 4 Cancellation

The Official Playstation Magazine has explained why Enix has decided to cancel the American release of the Dragon Quest IV re-make for the PSone. Heartbeat, the Japanese game development company that that programed Dragon Quest 7 and the new Dragon Quest 4, has ceased video game software development in Japan. While any English translation of Dragon Quest would be scripted in the US, the implementation of of English text into the game itself would need to be done by the game’s original programmers. Since these programmers no longer work on console video games, there’s no one available to program an English language version of the game.
