Twentieth Century Fox announced yesterday that it plans to release Digimon: The Movie on Oct. 6. The TV series, produced by Toei Animation Co., has already spawned two short Japanese theatrical features. The American release will be an edited, spliced together combination of both films. Fox noted in its news release that the movie “will have more lush and detailed animation” than the TV series, plus “more detailed characterizations.” Reminiscent of its promotion for the X-Files movie, Fox also said that the film “features pivotal continuity points linking” the first two seasons of the Digimon TV series.
