Discotek Acquires Unico

Discotek Media has formally announced its acquisition of the two Unico feature films. Osamu Tezuka directed the 1981 Fantastic Adventures of Unico film adapted from his own manga. Moribi Murano directed the 1983 sequel Unico: To The Magic Island. Both films have previously been broadcast on American television and been released on domestic videotape in English dubbed versions. A distributor named “New Galaxy Anime” announced its acquisition of the first Unico movie in October 2007 but never released the title. Discotek reports that the films will be released bilingually, and, “They will be released this time….”
