Drawn & Quarterly Acquires A Drifting Life

Comic publisher Drawn & Quarterly has revealed plans to publish an English language translation of influential manga artist Yoshihiro Tatsumi’s 800+ page manga autobiography “A Drifting Life.” Tatsumi, born in 1935, originated the “gekiga” style of Japanese comic art in the late 1950s. The style concentrates on realistic and dramatic comic stories intended for adult readers, opposed to more common sensationalistic fantasy manga targeted at children and teen readers.
