Drawn & Quarterly Acquires GeGeGe no Kitaro

Drawn & Quarterly will begin releasing an English language translation of Shigeru Mizuki’s classic supernatural adventure manga GeGeGe no Kitaro early next year. Mizuki first created a manga adaptation of the popular 1930’s Hakaba no Kitaro (Graveyard Kitaro) kamishibai story in 1959. The series was re-titled and relaunched in 1966 as “GeGeGe no Kitaro” (Cackling Kitaro), becoming a modern classic of children’s manga. Drawn & Quarterly currently publishes English translations of Mizuki’s NonNonBa and Onward Towards Our Noble Deaths manga.
