Europe Now the World’s Second Largest Manga Market

The Japan External Trade Research Organization has determined that Europe is now the world’s second largest consumer market for Japanese manga, following behind Japan. Sales of manga in France and Germany alone totaled US $212.6 million in 2006. France alone accounts for nearly two-thirds of all manga purchased in Europe.
