I take it this’ll be the Funi Dub? As happy as I am to actually see one in my state, I don’t think I really want to make a multi-hour drive for a dubbed Eva. I didn’t care much for the dub track in the TV series and I’d rather not listen to Spike Spencer for a few hours when I haven’t even seen it in Japanese yet.
I was making the same dreadful assumption, and like you would have passed on the *shudder* dubbed version (just as I am, regretfully, skipping the live-action, English-dubbed “Gantz” in the theater). But to my happy surprise, my local theater’s website specifies that they are showing “Eva 2.0” in Japanese w/ subs. So check with whoever’s showing it in your area, maybe you’ll get lucky too.
What the hell, F-U-mation? Are you deliberately trying to screw Cali/L.A. fans by playing these films in out-of-the-way places? I gotta pay $6 via bus and subway to get down there and back. -_- Oh, well, I guess it’s karma for only watching the show fansubbed and arguing that Anno owes *me* for his therapy sessions…
If the screenings are like their SUMMER WARS release, they’ll split theater time for the dubbed (daytime) and subbed (evening; late night) versions.
In any case, also just like their SUMMER WARS release, the film is playing practically nowhere in the midwest, big surprise. I see a single-day showing in Indy, big whoop.
