Final Fantasy Anime Announced
|Although the mention is brief, Videogames.com reports that Square intends to increase awareness of the Final Fantasy franchise through “an animated TV series.”
The article also reports that series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi is taking a back seat role in the production of the next three Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy X is being directed by Yoshinori Kitase. The full on-line multi-player Final Fantasy XI is being directed by Hiromichi Tanaka & Koichi Ishii, who previously worked as producer on Chrono Cross and worked on the Saga Frontier and “Mana” series games respectively. Final Fantasy XII, it has been announced, will revert back to the pure console, single player style of traditional FF games and will be directed by Yasumi Matsuno, the director of Final Fantasy Tactics & Vagrant Story, and Hiroyuki Ito, director of Final Fantasy IX.
Final Fantasy X will be released in Japan in July. Square is tentatively hoping to release the game in the US four months later, likely around Thanksgiving.
