Final Fantasy X Previews

The early word from IGN PS2 visitors at the Tokyo Game Show is that the rumored vast changes to the battle system of Final Fantasy X were largely little more than unfounded rumors. The traditional Final Fantasy battle system of turn based combat is back. One new feature exclusive to FFX is that female character Yuna can summon guardian force type monsters that will remain on the battlefield as controllable party members during battle. After filling an “Over Drive” meter, these monsters can perform their signature “guardian force” style magic attacks.

IGN PS2 has posted a brief movie clip of new game footage from Final Fantasy X from the Tokyo Game Show. The Gaming Intelligence Agency has posted a detailed report on the battle system filled with screenshots.
