First Review of Manga’s Death & Rebirth

Anime Jump! has published an extensive, spoiler-free content review of Manga Entertainment’s upcoming Evangelion: Death & Rebirth DVD. The review focuses primarily on the domestic DVD formatting and the content of the films themselves and does not address image or sound quality, or translation, subtitling and dubbing quality. Worth noting is the fact that the review suggests that the version of Rebirth presented to American audiences is technically not the original Japanese version but instead of “cut & paste” composite of End of Evangelion footage edited together by Manga Entertainment. This theory has not yet been confirmed or denied by any other source, by may in fact be correct as re-using footage from End of Evangelion under the title “Rebirth” would eliminate the need to produce separate translations and English dubs for Rebirth and End of Evangelion.
