FUNimation Acquires Seto no Hanayome & El Cazador
|FUNimation has announced its acquisition of distribution rights to the Seto no Hanayome and El Cazador anime television series.
FUNimation has acquired home entertainment, limited broadcast, and digital distribution rights to the 2007 Seto no Hanayome television series. The romantic comedy about a human teen strong-armed into an engagement with the mermaid heiress of an undersea yakuza-style gang will be released later this year in two half-season DVD sets under the title “My Bride Is A Mermaid!” FUNimation has not confirmed acquisition of the sequel two-episode OVA series.
FUNimation has also secured the home entertainment, broadcast, digital, internet, and mobile distribution rights to the 2007 El Cazador (also known as “El Cazador De La Bruja”) anime television series. The series constitutes the third part of director Koichi Mashimo’s thematic “girls with guns” trilogy that includes Noir and Madlax. The 26 episode series will be released in two half-season sets later this year.

Unless someone has bought Funimation from Navarre, where are they getting the money to do this — else one has to think Funi is going sub-only with a lot of these titles on their streaming service…
