FUNimation to Sue One Piece Downloaders
|Funimation has filed a copyright infringement suit in the Northern District of Texas court against 1,337 individuals that downloaded One Piece episode 481 via BitTorrent between January 9 and 12. The individuals are presently identified only by IP address. FUNimation expects to learn the actual identity of the charged individuals, and identify additional parties to the suit, as the legal process progresses. FUNimation is seeking a court order to prevent defendants from infringing upon any future FUNimation copyrights, demand that defendants destroy all unauthorized copies of the episode in their posession, and pay FUNimation compensation for legal expenses and damages.

Well, it isn’t as if FUNi doesn’t have the legal right to do so. U.S. Copyright Law says okey-dokey.
Good on FUNimation! Those people deserve it. Especially for watching such a poor series, among other things hehe.
Kudos to Funi! About time someone cracked down on these folks. The episode is available for free (or will be), is it not? Why not just wait? “Fans” these days…
Three years too late.
They should’ve sued the leeches out while there were still some non-leeches in the fandom.
(Or, maybe, enough non-leeches to justify there _being_ a fandom.)
Anime is finished because of the fansubbers, pirates, and thieves.
