Gackt’s Dog to Star in Anime

Japanese rock star Gackt’s pet long-coat chihuahua “Ener” will participate in the Japanese “Love Our Planet” campaign to promote environmental awareness. Ener, whose name comes from Gackt’s hope that his pet dog will bring “energy” to everyone, will be the star of the Ener’s Big Adventure” project that will include an anime, a picture book, and a blog. According to the “Ener’s Big Adventure” official website, following the death of Gackt’s dog Belle last December, Ener received a “message from heaven” stating that “Earth is crying,” and ordering Ener to spread awareness of environmental issues. Ener will also be used as an image character for the Eco Gallery, an educational pavilion in Toyako, Hokkaido scheduled to run from June 1 to August 31. The event is connected to the 34th G8 summit, which will be held in Toyako on July 7-9.
