Gedo Senki Highest Grossing Japanese Movie in Japan in 2006

While Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was Japan’s highest grossing theatrical release last year, pulling in 11 billion yen, Studio Ghibli’s Gedo Senki was Japan’s highest grossing domestic production of 2006, earning 7.65 billion yen.

Four of the ten highest grossing Japanese produced films released in Japan in 2006 were anime films. Pocket Monster movie 9 ranked seventh. Doraemon movie 24 ranked eighth. Detective Conan movie 10 ranked tenth.
