Geneon Clarifies Toei Partnership

Geneon spokesman Chad Kime has explained to industry newswatch corporation ICv2 that Toei Animation of Japan is moving into American anime distribution itself. Toei Studios of Japan will apparently translate and localize anime titles for American release, and Geneon will sell and ship the Toei produced DVDs to American stores. Toei will be exporting anime titles to America that it hasn’t already licensed to other American distributors, and American distributors including FUNimation expect to continue licensing North American distribution rights to Toei productions in the future.
