Ghibli Announces New President

Veteran anime industry professional Toshio Suzuki, the producer behind every Studio Ghibli movie produced since 1989, and Studio Ghibli president since 2005, has announced plans to transfer his president position to former Walt Disney Japan president Koji Hoshino. Suzuki will henceforth concentrate on duties as a Studio Ghibli film producer and board director. According to Variety Japan, Suzuki said, “As movie-making is where it all began for Studio Ghibli, I want to focus on that and not forget my first passion.” New Studio Ghibli president Koji Hoshino was involved in Disney Home Video’s partnership and distribution agreement with Studio Ghibli, and served as executive producer for the Ghibli movies Spirited Away and The Cat Returns.
