Ghibli Confirms Plans for 2 New Films

The November entry in Studio Ghibli’s “Itsumo no Ghibli Nikki” (Habitual Ghibli Diary) blog reveals that director Hayao Miyazaki addressed the Ghibli staff last month in a speech that included confirmation that the studio will produce two new feature films within the next three years. Miyazaki reportedly emphasized that the production of the new films will be driven by the studio’s younger staff. Further details about the new productions are being kept secret.

Last February Studio Ghibli President Koji Hoshino stated that Studio Ghibli directors Isao Takahata and Goro Miyazaki are both developing new works for release after Studio Ghibli’s Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea motion picture.
