Gonzo Parodies Gainax

Japanese fan site Idolinglife has published screenshots comparing Gonzo’s opening animation sequence from the current Japanese live action television series Densha Otoko to Gainax Studio’s famous fan produced animation for the 1983 Daicon IV convention. The new Gonzo produced animation sequence is a direct homage to the Daicon IV opening animation, even using the ELO song “Twilight.” Densha Otoko is a series about an “otaku” learning to overcome his fear of talking to a beautiful woman on a train.
