Has Disney Killed Spirited Away?

Columnist Jack Mathews of the New York Daily News has published an editorial in the newspaper chastising Walt Disney Studios Chairman Richard W. Cook over Disney’s minimal promotion and support of their American release of Spirited Away. The article cites exceptional initial audience response that Disney has not attempted to capitalize on or nurture. Mathews argues that without action from Disney, Spirited Away is in immediate danger of becoming the “lost gem of ’02.”
