Hikaru Utada Joins Squaresoft

According to Madman’s Cafe, J-pop diva Hikaru Utada will perform the theme song, “Hikari” (“Light”), for Squaresoft’s upcoming Disney RPG Kingdom Hearts. Hikaru Utada, who is fluent in English and attends college at Columbia University in New York City, will perform versions of the song in Japanese and English. A CD single version of the theme will be released in Japan on March 20th, a week before the release of the game. Hikaru Utada’s second album, “Distance,” is the best selling CD in Japanese history.
