Hisao Maki Dead at 71

Manga author, actor, producer, and karate expert Hisao Maki passed away suddenly on Monday, January 2 at the age of 71. Maki was on his way to a harbor in Kanagawa where he planned to go boating when he suddenly fell ill and was rushed to a hospital where he passed away. The younger brother of Tiger Mask & Ashita no Joe creator Ikki Kajiwara, Maki may be best known as the creator of the WARU crime manga series which spawned 12 live-action film adaptations. Maki also co-created the Ashita no Joe spin-off sequel Futari no Joe.
