ICv2 Picks Hottest Fall 2008 Anime & Manga

ICv2 has revealed its rankings of the top 10 most popular anime and top 25 manga titles in America during September, October, and early November 2008. The ICv2 rankings are based on sales volume, as determined by interviews with retailers, distributors, and manufacturers.

These lists confirm an interesting separation in audience demographics. Apart from Pokemon, all of America’s best selling anime titles are clearly targeted at a teen and young adult male audience. However, three of America’s top ten manga titles are classified as shoujo series, and the skew toward a male audience throughout the entire list of best selling manga isn’t nearly as pronounced as it is with anime.
