Is It Just Me Or?
Over the past couple of days I’ve had a difficult time recollecting the titles of a few anime series, specifically:
Hagure Yuusha no Estetica
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei
Marimo no Hana ~Saikyou Butouha Shougakusei Densetsu~
Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii
Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C3-bu
Now that I’m literally in middle-age, I wonder if my memory is starting to weaken or if an increasing number of anime titles are just getting longer and more convoluted lately. Or maybe this is a sign that there’s just too many new anime released every year if I can’t even recall the names of shows I watched just a year or two ago.

I hate to say that there are TOO many anime coming out each year. There are a lot of anime coming out in recent years though when you compare it to say 20 or 30 years ago. Of course it might just seem that way to me because so many are being released here in the states these days, not to mention how the internet can, now better than ever, keep us informed about information like that straight from Japan.
I really do hope that it isn’t just being “middle-aged” though. I have a hard time most days remembering how I got to work, or if I ate lunch and I am now where near middle-aged yet. If that’s the case I am in SO MUCH TROUBLE.
I’d say it’s more likely the titles of the Light Novel adaptations are too long (which also sounds like an anime title – The Title of My Light Novel Adaptation Can’t Be This Long!)
There aren’t “too many” anime coming out. You don’t have to watch them all. Now if they were putting out all these anime, but not enough people were watching, I’d say you have a point. Also, this is a relatively new era, where we can watch just about every anime that’s airing in Japan. This has only been possible for a decade.
Addressing the name subject, yeah, some anime tend to have a whole sentence as a title, and it’s typically the comedies. There was a game recently with a title that will make you dizzy. Check it out:
