Japan Picks Favorite Manga & Anime

In commemoration of its 10th anniversary, the Japan Media Arts Festival, sponsored by Japan’s National Agency for Cultural Affairs, has announced the results of public web polls to determine Japan’s favorite music, entertainment, manga and anime. Each category included 100 choices, and poll participants were limited to ten choices in each category.

The top ten selections in the anime category, determined by 80,402 votes, are:

02. Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind
03. Castle in the Sky, Laputa
04. Mobile Suit Gundam (original TV series)
05. Lupin III: Cagliostro’s Castle

The top ten write-in votes were:
