Japanese Cultural Awards
|On December 22nd the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs (ACA) announced the winning works in each of the four categories of the Media Arts Festival. In the animation category the ACA awarded the grand prize to Blood: The Last Vampire. Runner up “Excellence Prizes” went to Luz, Tare Panda, S.O.S. and Hidamari No Ki. In the manga category, Vagabond was awarded the grand prize. Excellence prizes went to Oudo No Inu, Paji, Massuguni-ikou and Like Shooting Stars in the Twilight. Grand prize in the Digital Art (Interactive) category was awarded to Dragon Quest VII, with Shenmue winning an award of excellence. And in the Digital Art (Non-Interactive) category, one of the excellence prizes went to Mamoru Oshii’s live-action film Avalon.
