Japanese Publisher Suspends Controversial Manga

CNN has reported that Shueisha Inc. will suspend printing “Kuni ga Moeru” (The Country is Burning) in its Weekly Young Jump magazine due to protests over its characterization of the 1937 “Rape of Nanjing.” A Shueisha spokesman was quoted in the article as saying that the serialized manga will be suspended “for the time being,” and that there are plans to change or remove parts of the comic when it is eventually released in collected form.
