Japanese Studios to Launch Their Own Version of Crunchyroll
|Anime production investment company Asatsu-DK (ADK) has announced a partnership with the Aniplex, Dentsu, Nihon Ad Systems (NAS), Sunrise, TMS Entertainment, and Toei Animation producers & studios to launch an international anime streaming site called “Daisuki” this April. Reportedly the online service will stream over 500 different anime titles, including current shows nearly simultaneous with their Japanese television broadcast. Daisuki will also stream live events. The site will also offer retail goods for purchase. The involved studios have previously independently streamed their anime titles via different services including Crunchyroll and Hulu. This unification will maximize control & revenue for the original Japanese studios.
