JSDF to Co-Produce Anime

French anime fan site The Sugoi has published information and early production images of Oozora ~Sora~, an upcoming 6 episode OAV series animated by Studio Nekoya with assistance from the JSDF (Japan Self Defense Force).

The series deals with a group of free-agent pilots who work for the Japanese government in order to compensate for the closing of the American airbases located in Japan.

The animation will use traditional anime character art with full CG aerial combat scenes. The first DVD, due out sometime next year, will incldue the first 30 minute OAV, a 10 minute pilot episode, and a 15 minute “making of” featurette.
