Kill Bill Announced for Japanese DVD Release

Universal Pictures has announced that Kill Bill: vol. 1 will be released to Japanese DVD on April 16th in a regular edition and a Premium Box edition.

The standard edition DVD will contain a 113 minute long cut of the movie, 2 minutes longer than the American theatrical version, and bonus features including staff interviews and a 25 minute long documentary on the making of the anime sequence. The dual layered DVD will include optional English DTS and 5.1 audio and Japanese 5.1 audio and optional English and Japanese subtitles. The regular edition DVD will retail at 3,800 yen ($35).

The Premium Box edition will include the standard edition DVD and a 24 page booklet, a bloodstained Medicom “Bearbrik,” a Japanese size large replica of The Bride’s Okinawa T-shirt, and a 1:10 scale replica of The Bride’s Hanzo Hattori katana, all packaged in an illustrated box retailing at 7,800 yen ($72).

First edition copies of both DVD editions will include a discount coupon for admission to the Japanese theatrical release of Kill Bill: vol. 2.
