Kinji Fukasaku Get Well Letter Campaign Begun

Veteran Japanese film maker Kinji Fukasaku, perhaps best known to Westerners as the director of Battle Royale, recently announced that he has been diagnosed with bone cancer. Rather than undergo radiation treatment, Fukasaku has announced his intentions to devote all of his efforts to directing Battle Royale 2.

American writer Patrick Macias, author of the Japanese film reference book Tokyoscope, is organizing a “get well wish” campaign for Fukasaku-sensei. Get Well wishes for Fukasaku may be sent to Patrick at jaguar@mindspring.com where they will be translated into Japanese and passed along to Mr. Fukasaku.
