Knight in the Area Anime Announced

This week’s issue of Weekly Shounen Magazine formally announced the development of an anime based on Hiroaki Igano and Kaya Tsukiyama’s soccer manga The Knight in the Area (Area no Kishi). The manga story revolves around Kakeru Aizawa, the younger brother of an adolescent soccer prodigy. While Kakeru believes himself to be bad at soccer, his elder brother believes that Kakeru may have tremendous untapped potential. The ongoing manga launched in 2006; its 27th compiled volume hits Japanese bookstores this month. Co-creator Hiroaki Igano, under the name Tadashi Agi, is the writer for manga including Kami no Shizuku, GetBackers, and Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo.
