Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni Movie Revealed
|Mai Mai Miracle director Sunao Katabuchi has confirmed that he will direct an anime film adaptation of Fumiyo Kono’s multi-award-winning 2007-2009 historical drama manga Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni (To All The Corners Of The World). The manga follows the life of a new bride who moves to a suburb of Hiroshima and perseveres through World War II. Madhouse co-founder Masao Maruyama’s current studio MAPPA (Sakamichi no Appolon) will animate the film.
The manga was adapted into a live-action TV special last year. The manga is available in English from JManga. Kono’s 2003 WWII drama manga Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms is also available in English from Last Gasp.
