Live Action Dragonball Movie Production Greenlit

Twentieth Century Fox has approved production of its planned live action American Dragonball movie. Final Destination writer & director James Wong will direct the picture with Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer) producing. Justin Chatwin (who played Tom Cruise’s disaffected teenage son in War of the Worlds) will star as Son Goku while James Marsters (Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) will portray the villain Piccolo (father of the Dragon Ball Z character also named Piccolo). The live action adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s best selling adventure manga is tentatively scheduled for theatrical release on August 15th, 2008.
