Lodoss War Getting Japanese Blu-ray Release

Media Blasters license-rescued the 1990 Record of Lodoss War OVA series in 2010 but then canceled its planned release in 2012, stating that high quality master footage was unavailable from Japan. Kadokawa has now announced a November 29 release for a Blu-ray release of the 13-episode OVA series, digitally remastered from original 35mm film negatives. The 39,990 yen double-disc set will include a 196 page booklet featuring never-before-release vintage cel-art illustrations by character designer Nobuteru Yuki, an original book cover, and digipak packaging with a new cover illustration by Nobuteru Yuki. The Japanese Blu-ray release will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Lodoss franchise.
