Long Beach Press Telegram Covers Appleseed

The Long Beach Press Telegram newspaper of Long Beach, California, home of Geneon Entertainment’s American headquarters, has published an article discussing Geneon’s plans for the American distribution of the Appleseed movie. The film cost $10 million to produce, a mere fraction of the $200 million budget of Warner Bros.’ Polar Express. Geneon will initially distribute an English dubbed print of the Appleseed movie in 50 American theaters, with wider distribution to be determined. Geneon hopes to achieve “Akira”-type numbers with the film. Akira has sold over 300,000 DVD copies since 1999.
