Mass Effect Anime Film Announced
|Video game developer BioWare and FUNimation have formally announced a partnership with Japanese anime production studio T.O. Entertainment to develop a feature length OVA based on BioWare’s sci-fi RPG series Mass Effect. Reportedly work is already underway on the anime, which will be released on home video and digitally in summer 2012. T.O. Entertainment has previously produced anime series including Baka to Test to Shokanjyu, MM!, and Densetsu no Yusha no Densetsu.
In May 2010 Legendary Pictures announced plans to develop a live-action Mass Effect motion picture.

Even as an anime and Mass Effect fan (or well, the 2nd game was good at least), I’ll be bracing myself for an uninspired production that merely fits the bill of “Mass Effect anime”, rather than a sci-fi that’s actually worth watching the whole way through.
Interesting that it’ll be “feature length” though, and to be released over a year from now. It sounds more serious than other pseudo-anime productions you could compare this effort to.
