Media Blasters Cancels Lodoss War Release

Media Blasters has revealed that it will not release the two Record of Lodoss War anime series as previously announced. In February 2010 Media Blasters announced that it had license rescued the 1990 Record of Lodoss War OVA series & 1998 Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight television series, both previously distributed by Central Park Media.

Last January Media Blasters laid off 60% off its staff but announced that the cutbacks would not affect future releases. In early February Media Blasters announced that the second DVD volume of Bakuman & the Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians complete series collection would be delayed indefinitely.

According to unconfirmed speculation & rumor, Media Blasters chose to cancel the release of the Lodoss War anime because Kadokawa was unable to provide video masters of acceptable quality. If this is the case, I respect the decision, but since when has Media Blasters ever cared about video image quality?
