Media Blasters News from Anime Boston
|At last weekend’s Anime Boston convention, Media Blasters announced its acquisition of distribution rights to the I’ll/CKBC OAV series, the Viper GTS adult anime series, and the Ryuhei Kitamura directed live action films Alive, Aragami, Ultimate Versus, the live action samurai action/drama Gojoe, and the Kane Kosugi martial arts film Muscle Heat.
Media Blasters also announced plans to release a new special edition DVD version of the live action film Ichi the Killer.
More of the Bible Black adult anime series will be released in America after it’s released in Japan.
Media Blasters hinted at possibly having distribution rights to Giant Robo. Media Blasters CEO John Sirabella stated that a well known “giant robot” show that can be associated with “gin” jokes is being remastered in Japan. Media Blasters will release the remastered version on American DVD.
The original Japanese licensor no longer has production materials available for the Tales of Eternia anime TV series, so reluctantly had to cancel Media Blaster’s domestic distribution agreement for the series.
John Sirabella also confirmed Media Blaster’s plans to evolve into a entertainment production and distribution company not limited to only Japanese animation and manga. The company is in negotiations with a Japanese studio to produce a Flesh for the Beast “anime” based on the American horror movie produced by Media Blasters.
There are presently no plans for more 12 Kingdoms anime in Japan.
