Metropolis U.S. Theatrical Release Details

The official American Metropolis website is now open and includes trailers, wallpapers, production information and and other promotional material. The site requires Macromedia Flash capability. According to the site, Metropolis will debut in limited American theatrical release on January 25th. The MPAA has officially rated the film “PG-13” for “violence and images of destruction.”

And in what may be America’s first attempt to present anime to mainstream American audiences as a genuine example of imported Japanese cinema, the American theatrical presentation of Metropolis will be subtitled in order to maintain the film’s artistic integrity and original Japanese dialogue and story.
