Microsoft Officially Lowers Xbox Price in America

As expected, in order to directly compete with Sony’s recently announced price drop for their Playstation line of products, Microsoft has announced that the Xbox console will decrease in retail price to $199 in America (down from $299) and approximately $193 in Japan (down from roughly $270), effective today. Microsoft will be taking an even bigger loss relative to production costs for each Xbox console sold now, but will offset the loss with positive sales of Xbox games. An average of 4.1 games is sold for each 1 Xbox console sold.
