More Otakon News from AD Vision
|AD Vision will conclude the release of AD Police, Gasaraki, Nadia, Ark the Lad, and Shin Getter Robo before the end of 2001.
Several new series and OVAs are to be expected through the rest of this year and all of 2002, including Colorful, Steel Angel Kurumi, the Zone of the Enders OAV, more Slayers movies and OVAs, the Nadesico movie, and a re-release of the Dirty Pair movie and OAVs previously released dub only by Streamline. New series on ADV Film’s horizon include the upcoming Japanese full CG Cutey Honey TV series, Eden’s Bowy, Excel Saga, Rune Soldier Rui, Powerstone, the Sakura Wars TV series, the Zone of the Enders TV series, and “Soul Hunters” (Houshin Engi).
Apparently AD Vision does posses the US translation rights to Gensomaden Saiyuki. The Japanese licensor wants AD Vision to release the show in the US under the title “Paradise Raiders.”
The Spriggan movie will have a sneak premiere at CN Anime in Toronto later this month, followed by a “tiered” theatrical release later this year.
AD Vision is currently engaged in six co-productions with various Japanese studios including work on the Lady Death movie, the current TV series Chance! Triangle Session and the upcoming new Rurouni Kenshin OVA series.
The multiple City Hunter TV series will be released as several DVD box sets, all put up for pre-order, with the one that receives the largest number of pre-order requests being the first produced.
AD Vision will be including the completed Robotech II: Sentinels footage in the fifth wave of Robotech DVDs. AD Vision has the rights to the soundtrack and audio track for the “Robotech” movie (essentially a mangled version of Megazone 23 with its story entirely re-written to become part of Robotech) but not the video footage, so an upcoming Robotech DVD will include the storyboards for the Robotech movie timed to the audio track.
AD Vision has confirmed that the first DVD volume of Evangelion will be re-mastered and re-released sometime in the future, presumably to correct the poor image quality and remove the digital overlay editing present in the current existing DVD release. A new cover to Evangelion DVD 2 will also be produced so that all of the DVD covers match. The more risque Japanese home video version of Sakura Dairies will be released as a double disc subtitled only DVD set.
Princess 9 will be the first 26 episode TV series released in the 6 DVD volume format that AD Vision will be using for all new 25-26 episode long series. ADV Films expects to have their entire catalog on DVD by the end of 2002. The Softcell adult titles will get DVD conversion after the entire ADV catalog has been converted to DVD.
